CabriO Stanserhorn

Cabrio Stanserhorn

Cabrio Stanserhorn

Cabrio Stanserhorn is the world’s first open-air cable car, offering panoramic views on a mountain excursion near Lucerne.

Feel the wind in your face and drink in the views—first on the open funicular, rumbling and bumping just as it did 130 years ago, then on the rooftop deck of the futuristic CabriO aerial cableway.

Since 1893, the open wooden coaches have carried guests from Stans to the Stanserhorn. From the intermediate station, the CabriO with its open-air roof deck is the star attraction. Standing atop the double-deck panorama cabin—with no cables overhead—you’ll glide past the support masts, savoring the headwind and the sweeping vistas.

At the summit, a circular walk brings you to friendly rangers who can help identify flowers and mountain peaks. Lively marmots await halfway to the top, a favorite with younger visitors. Right beside the mountain station, the revolving restaurant adds a delicious finish to the experience.
