Enjoy spectacular views along the historic Gotthard route in an exclusive and comfortable atmosphere. After departing Flüelen, the train follows the shores of Lake Lucerne before entering the scenic Reuss Valley. Along the way you will see steep rock faces, deep gorges, and charming historic villages — including the famous Wassen Church, visible from several unique perspectives.

The journey continues through the 15-kilometre Gotthard tunnel into the canton of Ticino, where the landscape changes noticeably. Mediterranean influences, palm trees, vineyards, and views of Bellinzona’s three castles accompany you on the final stretch to Lugano.

In 2026, the Gotthard Panorama Express will run daily from April 18 to October 18, 2026.

The Gotthard Panorama Express runs to and from Arth-Goldau. This gives you further travel possibilities, for example, a visit to the Rigi – the internationally famous hiking mountain in central Switzerland, often called the Queen of the Mountains. Alternatively, you can change in Arth-Goldau to the Voralpen-Express and travel to St. Gallen or Lucerne. Numerous long-distance connections are also available, e.g. for the Zug–Zurich or Lucerne–Basel routes or southward to Lugano–Chiasso.
